From the recording I Live in the Countryside

I heard this Portugese song "Moro Na Roça" on a collection by the incredible label, PUTUMAYO, (they present different styles of music from around the world; many different artists that one would never really have the chance to hear otherwise) and the melody captured my soul, so I wanted to translate and share it with our English heritage in hopes it would do the same. Thank You for listening and spreading the word.

Lyrics

I live in the coutryside I,
I never lived in the city
the morning papers and sunrise
they make me pray for gods pity

I live in the countryside I
I never lived in the city
the morning papers and sunrise
they make me pray for...

Children of the Sacred Seed
greed will lead to your disaster
though you have everything you need
still you want bigger better faster

First it was you, then you & me
then it was me & it was you & he
Its no longer you its no longer he
Now its just me & my memories

My people are at the doorway
my people are at the doorway
my loved ones arrive with Jesus
God and Mother Mary, & I'm not scared

I'm casting my worries off tonight
I've never felt quite so alive
The morning papers & sunrise
Will tell the story of my life

I'm casting my worries off tonight
I've never felt quite so alive
The morning birds & new sunrise
Will sing the story of my life
